Marathon Training : Week 98 : FOOD!

Other marathon training posts...

Oh man, working retail in December AND hitting the tail end of marathon training is HARD! But this week, I was able to say good-bye to my super dangerous 15-mile route. Oh man, I was so glad to knock each section of the route off. After the marathon, I'm fairly certain I'll run another one, but I'll definitely be changing my routes! Akron is a tough town, man. I have a blog post on safe street running coming up, but first, let's talk FOOD!

Over on her blog, Jessica mentioned something about carbo-loading. Oh man, I was suspicious. But she's given me good advice when we've talked running, so I decide to research it. Apparently, it's a thing. So this week, I tried it. I wasn't super smart about it. I just bought lots of bagels and then carb snacks and ate a fuckton for two days before my run. Umm...I think it worked! I felt so great throughout the run and didn't get sore in some of the places I usually do. I was still hungry by the end, but I really think it was a success! Since I'm running twenty miles this week, I'm going to start carb loading on Monday. It'll also be a good trial for how I eat prior to the marathon. I'll let you know how it goes!

  1. Oh wow, so glad you tried it! It's amazing how people can do something so simple to fuel their long runs, avoid injury and avoid hitting the wall, but they just don't eat the right stuff. I definitely feel better during a race when I'm properly fueled!

    1. Exactly! I'm doing it this week too and reading about how to eat on a run. So glad you're doing this too!
