Food Review : Pour Coffee and Colossal Cupcakes

A couple of weeks ago, Adam and I ventured to downtown Cleveland to try out a new coffee shop, Pour. I'm always hopeful about trying new places and finding a really great coffee shop. Cleveland has places with good coffee but the atmosphere is generally lacking and I just haven't found that great coffee shop yet. The same is true for Pour. It's all white and sterile. The menu is that stupid, pour each cup into a filter and brew it singular. Honestly, that's just unnecessary. It's run by hipsters, so just yuck. And then, on top of all that, they were playing death metal as the background music...just, WTF? The coffee was fine, not amazing and the pastries were really great, but the atmosphere and awful music made me never want to return, ever. The only other cool thing was a dog! I like a dog friendly place.

While we were in the area, we decided to check out all the arcades, both Euclid and 5th Street Arcades. Just before we left, we passed, Colossal Cupcakes, this amazing cupcake shop right across the arcade from Pour. Oh man, what a treat! It's all in the name, they make HUGE cupcakes. The interior is all pink and fabulous. The cupcakes are really delicious. It's such a cute little place. We each picked out a cupcake and then brought one home for mom. There's a little sitting area in the shop, so you could definitely enjoy your cupcakes in all the pink delightfulness. Colossal Cupcakes' cozy and welcoming interior was a far cry for the sterile environment of Pour, and I would definitely suggest this place to anyone!
