101 Updates and ALL THE GOALS

Before I delve into a LONG post that outlines my to do list for this week and updates my 101 Things list, I just wanna write a quick response to my latest post on training for a marathon for beginners.

I've received a couple of comments that make me feel like the message I thought I was writing was not communicated well. I did not mean to imply in any way that I dislike distance running. I like distance running and was surprised I fell in love with it when training for my first marathon. What I wanted to say was training to run a marathon is challenging and not a cure for all that ails you. I think there are a lot of myths surrounding regular exercise and I want to debunk those myths. Also, I just wanted to be that voice that you needed to hear when you're out running a distance that you KNOW you can do and it's challenging and you don't know why...that voice that says, "OK, Fenna told me there would be days like this. She had them and she ran a marathon. Take a deep breath and get through this day." Other runners told me there would be hard days and knowing that helped me break through the various obstacles I met on the longer path to running a full marathon. Also, seriously? Training to run 26.2 miles? Not exactly a cake walk. Yes, it's challenging.

Yes, you absolutely can do it. Yes, I still enjoyed it which is why I'm training to run another one!

101 Things Update
original list posted here:

001. Paint Bedroom : DONE!
--->I gotta do a room tour video, which I will do when there is artwork hung on the walls and the bed is made.

039. Build website : DONE! As done as it's gonna be for now. I have a domain, I have a place, I could make business cards. Whatever. It exists!!!
--->There is language on that website that is unconventional, but that's where it's gonna stay. I avoided writing in my own voice for YEARS and hated a good portion of building my business because of it. If I'm going to make money off of my photography, I'm going to do it my way and find the clients I want. I have to believe that I am not alone in the world and that there are people just like me trying to hire a badass motherfucker just like me.

004. Build shelves in bathroom : DONE!
--->Actually, I found a chest of drawers on the curb down the street and it has a mirror! So that's going in the bathroom. I painted the chest last week and will paint the mirror and stand this week. So excited to start setting up my bathroom this week!

010. Frame and hang Adam's Romania posters
--->They are mounted, which I did for under $10 each. I'll write out a post about it in the future. I'm trying to figure out how to hang them because I don't want to damage my walls like I've done in the past by just pounding nails into them. I'm thinking on a more effective way to hang things, which will lead to the completion of my bedroom and a video of it for this blog!

015. Redo landscaping around house : Nearly done.
--->It's a work in progress. This week, I'm doing ground cover. In a couple of weeks, I'm probably going to pull out bushes I killed by pruning too much last fall. Whatever, they were unkempt and ugly. I'm gonna plant knock out roses. The asshole landlords literally just fucking planted whatever the hell they wanted with no concern for the actual space or soil or anything. I did divide three hostas into SEVEN and they are totally thriving! I'm really excited. I'm actually gardening and it's awesome.

016. Remove stump and pave area in front of steps : Summer goal
--->I definitely am going to finish this project before summer is over, because the space in front of the stairs is an eyesore. But it's not going to be the cheapest. I'm going to create a budget soon and buy each piece by piece and do the project when I have the materials!

026. Make baby blanket/snuggy/thing : May Goal
--->This month, gonna get a pattern for this and make some prototypes and send them out!

045. Finish Renaissance Costume : Summer Goal
--->This has been sitting around my studio for YEARS and I have it on my to do list this week...to get it started. So that's what I'm doing. I hope to have it worked out in the next couple of months.

065. Hike all the trails in all the Metroparks of Cleveland and Summit County : Summer Goal
066. Hike every trail in CVNP : Summer Goal
--->This month, I'd like to make a list of everything and start checking off what I've done. I might not finish ALL THE TRAILS this summer, but I can get organized and get started!

042. Put together ideal equipment situation : Yearlong Goal
---> This is one that will require money and is a down-the-road thing, but I'm actively thinking about the parts I want and how I'm gonna put them together. By the end of this month, I want to have a list and a budget.

052. Try out reselling business : May Goal
---> This is actually in the works. I need to finish my Store Envy stuff and then start on this. I've been doing a lot of research and I have a lot of ideas, so I'm really feeling like I'm going to go for this over the spring and summer and try to have it be a regular thing in the fall.

070. Run two half marathons : Summer Goal
---> I'm signed up and half my first one in two weeks! I've paid for both, so I will run both!

076. Begin Project Life for Yourself (or Blurb) : Summer Goal
---> This is in the works. I thought I had found a great solution with Chatbooks, but that didn't work out! I've been doing some research on some other companies to find the best price and I really want to write reviews here. So I'm gonna work on that this year. The big thing is funding the books to review actual product!

18. Plan art shoot with Kendra and Paige
19. Edit all shoots and clear out all memory cards
20. Set up bathroom
21. Clean Dan's old camera and buy film for it

25. Bring wood blinds down into storage
26. Get started on Sushi painting
27. Get pics from Narissa for Neko painting
28. Create plan for improved website

30. Post measurements on Storenvy
31. Post items for sale on Craigslist
32. Figure out animal for KJ's purse and cut out
33. Bring home lady cats from Murphy home!!!

Ok, that's a LOT of items, but tons of them are pretty small. I meant to accomplish more last week, but I had a stomach virus for two days that wiped me out. So I definitely need to make sure I do the things this week that I was supposed to do last week. There are some business tasks I keep putting off because they don't interest me. But I need to do them because they are important. So, here's to another week of absolutely KILLING it in the to do list game!
