This Week...

Have you ever been in a friendship you chose to end? That happened to me last night, AGAIN. I'm always a huge advocate for ending friendships. If the friendship isn't working, then why stay in it? There's no point to that. Friendship should be reciprocal.

In this instance, the friendship deteriorated slowly, but quite obviously to me. Everything that was central to the friendship, which was born online, began to disappear. As things changed, I tried to change with it. I threw my support into new endeavors, even if it meant spending money. But things continued to change and deteriorate. I realized I didn't want to spend my money on a friendship and that the internet groups didn't make sense to me, so I withdrew. But the thing is, the more I withdrew, the less of a friendship there was. We communicated less via social networks and our e-mails stopped. When we were in close proximity to each other, a visit was very short and in an inconvenient and strange location. I started to wonder what the hell was the point. I was constantly talking to other friends about the lack of friendship and what should I do...but every solution felt like it would just be an e-mail full of criticism and so, I waited.

But then there was a conversation that turned into everything. My questions about what we had and the changes that happened were turned around on me. Instead of having a conversation about our friendship and where to go, I was accused of leaving, of wanting everything to be about me. But that is the thing about my friendships is they absolutely should be about me. Always. But I guess I have to wonder how I could see everything disappearing and she couldn' there even a point anymore? How to you bridge that gap? Well, we didn't. But I'm not really sad about it. Everything was slowly disappearing and there was really nothing left.

I'm trying to reorganize this list every week so that the top items are what I'm doing. I come back to the list throughout the week, and if you look at an older one, you can see I do actually cross off the items. This week, I've even put them in order of priority (and worked on some while I was composing this post), so that I can easily see what I want to do and go ahead and get it done. I'm determined, but I also have a part-time job now, and that will totally affect things. I foresee many longer days in my future, so I can really get things done in the time I want to complete them!
